Sometimes you may notice that the Land Registry Title boundary for a site is not overlaid on the map. Here’s what that means:
If there is no title outline shown on the map- this will mean that the piece of land/ property is unregistered.
Registration only became compulsory in the 1980/1990s, any properties which haven't changed hands since will therefore be unregistered.
You can choose to see unregistered land via the key in the top left-hand corner. Simply tick the 'Unregistered' box to display these on the map.
We represent this unregistered land as either orange or yellow ‘U’ pins - yellow meaning the site has planning connected to it, which can occasionally include ownership details. Wherever possible we include the address, so at the least you can write to them or research that address further.
However, there are very occasionally cases where even the Land Registry does not have a Title for a site/property. This means, if there is no unregistered land pin, there is little we can do and contacting the Land Registry themselves would be your best option.
There are 4 ways we recommend to help you find the owners of unregistered land. You can read this article by clicking here!
