You may occasionally notice that the Land Registry Title boundary for a site isn't overlaid on the map. Here's what this means:
If the title outline isn't shown on the map, it means the land or property is unregistered. Property registration became compulsory in the 1980s and 1990s, so any properties that haven't changed ownership since then will remain unregistered.
To view unregistered land, go to the key in the top left-hand corner and tick the 'Unregistered' box to display them on the map. Unregistered land is represented by orange or yellow ‘U’ pins. Yellow pins indicate the site has planning connected to it, and occasionally, ownership details are included. Where available, we also provide the address, so you can contact the owner or investigate further.
In rare cases, the Land Registry may not have a title for a site or property. If there is no unregistered land pin, there’s little we can do, and contacting the Land Registry directly would be your best option.
